Monkey Baa – Exploring wellbeing through Theatre for Young People

How Monkey Baa Theatre Company is Using The Nest to Support Young People’s Wellbeing

At ARACY, we know that supporting the wellbeing of children and young people requires collaboration across all sectors. That’s why we’re excited to see how The Nest—our national framework for child and youth wellbeing—is being embraced by creative organisations like Monkey Baa Theatre Company to shape and strengthen their work with young audiences.

As a company deeply committed to young people, Monkey Baa has long understood the inherent value of theatre in nurturing creativity, connection and emotional expression. In exploring ways to better articulate and evaluate this impact, they turned to The Nest—recognising its alignment with the expansive and transformative nature of the arts.

Through this framework, Monkey Baa has been able to connect their work directly to the six domains of wellbeing: being loved and safe, having material basics, being healthy, learning, participating, and having a positive sense of identity and culture.

From their culturally inclusive productions to their Youth Advisory Council and school partnerships, Monkey Baa ensures young people are not only the audience, but co-creators of theatre that reflects their lives and supports their growth. We’re proud to see The Nest in action, helping to embed wellbeing into the fabric of the creative sector.
